Inks 60:40 joint venture to develop campuses for four universities in Pagoh

This will consist of four tertiary learning institutions — Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, International Islamic University Malaysia, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn and Politeknik Pagoh.
The RM992.6 million private fi nance initiative project in the Muar district comprises of teaching equipment, facilities and infrastructure that would be shared amongst all four institutions.
The 506-acre project, which will start within two months is expected to be completed in 2015 — with construction to be conducted in stages and capable of accommodating 11,000 students.
This project falls under the 10th Malaysia Plan, which aims to turn the northern region of Johor into a hub for higher education.
Pagoh Education Hub would be developed on a 1,000-acre site out of a total of 4,100 acres which would be developed as the Pagoh University Town, alongside EduCity in Nusajaya, Iskandar in the south of Johor.
The RM6 billion long-term project aims to include Pagoh as a hub for higher education in the northern part of Johor, which will eventually become the Education Corridor.
Tunas Selatan Pagoh, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tunas Selatan Construction Sdn Bhd, will hold 40% of the joint venture with the rest taken by Sime Darby.
SDJD is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sime Darby Property Bhd. It is responsible for the development of Pagoh and is the main contractor for the project.
