Caterer nabbed over false FRU claims
A FOOD caterer, who allegedly made false claims amounting to RM115,204 to the Penang Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) has been nabbed by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
The 59-year-old man from Penang was arrested at 10.30am yesterday, and is expected to be charged in court next week.
He will be charged under Section 18A of the 2009 MACC Act with making false claims. If convicted, he faces a jail term not exceeding 20 years, or a fine of RM10,000 or not less than five times the value or sum of the false claims, whichever is higher.
Last year, the suspect allegedly issued a false claim amounting to RM115,204 to Unit 3 of the Penang FRU for food provisions for Troops A, B and C, which was to be taken during their training.
However, it was learnt that the provisions were never provided to the police personnel. — Malaysiakini
